Maybe the happy ending…

Maybe the happy ending

A beautiful verbal collage

I came across this lovely piece of writing.

“Maybe the happy ending
is you continuing to
be the soft, loving person that you are
despite the way the world
has tried to defeat you.
Maybe it is a calm nervous system,
a peacefulness that cannot be threatened.
Maybe the happy ending
is you moving on,
is you giving yourself
the love you never got
but always wanted.
Maybe the happy ending
is you embracing change,
is you going
in the direction of the things
that grow you and move you
and magnify your spirit.
Sometimes we have to remind ourselves
that we are not responsible
for other people’s
poor behaviour towards us
or their gaslighting
or their manipulation
or their unkindness.
That’s on them.
What’s on you
is how you choose to respond,
set boundaries, know your worth
and not let their actions
impact the beautiful soul
that you are.
You may encounter many defeats
but you must not be defeated.
In fact it may be necessary
to encounter the defeats
so you can know who you are
what you can rise from
how you can still come out of it.”

I liked it so much I wanted to find out who wrote it and this is where it gets…  interesting?

Initially, Bianca Sparacino pops up as the author. So far, so easy.
On closer scrutiny, it turns out Bianca wrote the first half, or more accurately the first half is taken from a longer piece Bianca wrote, which is very good in itself.

“Maybe the happy ending is you continuing to be the soft, loving person that you are despite the way the world has tried to defeat you. Maybe it is a calm nervous system, a peacefulness that cannot be threatened. Maybe the happy ending is you moving on, is you giving yourself the love you never got but always wanted. Maybe the happy ending is you embracing change, is you going in the direction of the things that grow you and move you and magnify your spirit.
Maybe the happy ending is you finding your way back into your heart, back into your hope. But most of all, maybe the happy ending is simply just you trusting in the fact that you cannot lose what is meant for you, maybe it is simply just you believing that you still have time.”
~ Bianca Sparacino

So who wrote the rest?
The middle section was written by Helen Marie.

And the last part was written by Maya Angelou

“You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it.”

― Maya Angelou

As someone who does a spot of wordsmithing myself you might think I would be outraged with all the mixing and matching going on here but I am not. I think it is rather lovely. I think whoever put these pieces of writing together made a lovely new thing. And if that someone was an AI, which I suspect it was, I don’t think that takes away from it at all.

I saw it posted on pinterest saying “author unknown” until I saw something very similar on twitter, from 2018. She posted some music that was nostalgic for her, and she was still able to feel it deeply, then wrote this: “I’m glad I know that I’m continuing to to be a soft, loving, open-hearted person that I am, despite the world trying to get me down. It’s the calm and peace from within that cannot be touched or threatened. I’m giving myself the love I deserve, amplifying my spirit, forging and embracing my own path.” It’s a bit different, and she tried to change some words around, but I believe she took it (borrowed?) from that source. She since went private on her page, but I retweeted it, and it stuck with me; I liked it. I do agree with you, it is very lovely, but the original authors should be recognized. It is their feelings, thoughts, and creative expression. I’m sure people will still resonate with it in the same way, and give her “likes” because she’s trying to uplift, and spread love and grace. 💞 I really enjoyed reading through your pages, here.

This is awesome, thanks for sharing. I came across a nice TikTok today and this totally explains its sourcing – which can be hard to come by when it comes to online quotes paired with pretty pictures. Well done!

No the original author was ALAN WATTS in his audio recordings.
