What is Further Emergence?
Further emergence has to do with growth, specifically inner growth or growth in consciousness, which encompasses emotional growth, spiritual growth, and growth in awareness.
Your body stops growing when you become an adult but you keep growing on the inside. That continues for your whole life. You only have to think about who you were 5, 10, 15 years ago to see that you are not the same person.
When you were a child you may have gone through periods of accelerated growth in your body, what are called, “growth spurts.” The same thing happens on the inside, you go through inner growth spurts, and they too continue for the rest of your life.
If you were going through a growth spurt as a child and you went to your parents complaining about growing pains. Your parents wouldn’t rush you to hospital or even bring you to the doctor. They would have told you that while the growing pains are uncomfortable they are natural and will pass.
It is very difficult as an adult of 20 or 30 or 40 or 50 . . . to know that the growing pains from an inner growth spurt are natural and will pass.
There is a much bigger space to feel like there is something, “wrong,” with you. That you are broken in some way and your need to be, “fixed.”
What does an inner growth spurt feel like? How would I know I am going through one?
The way and inner growth spurt can manifest is highly individual. Here are some of the ways it can show up.
- It can feel like you woke up one morning or afternoon, or in a traffic jam, on in the grocery store, and suddenly you have trouble recognising your life. You have trouble recognising yourself in your life.
- You can have strange things going on in your body, odd persistent symptoms that you can’t get a clear answer for.
Symptoms that feel like they have put your life on hold.
- You could be having sleep and energy issues. You are exhausted but can’t sleep, and when you do sleep you feel like you’ve been drugged.
- You can feel homesick, especially when you are at home.
- You could feel a pressure inside yourself to do something but you don’t know what it is.
- You find yourself saying or thinking things like,
“My life doesn’t match my insides.”
“Everything feels meaningless to me.”
“Trying to control everything isn’t working anymore!”
“If this doesn’t change soon I’m going to crack up.”
“I feel like I’m stuck in a loop.”
“Everything I have learned doesn’t help me now.”
“No one around me seems to, ‘get it.’”
If any or all of the above are happening for you, I understand. It’s scary and disorienting, and painful.
I’ve been there myself. Many times.
I know lots of people who have gone through a similar process.
We’ve gone through it together.
You are not alone.
Who am I?
My name is John Dalton.
I have been working with people as a craniosacral therapist since 1993. I developed the first Government accredited diploma of craniosacral therapy in Australia. (I lived in Australia for 10 years)
I founded The Australian Institute of Cranio Sacral Therapy.
I have lectured internationally on craniosacral therapy.
I wrote the book Why do we get sick? Why do we get better? – A wellness detective manual, as well as three other books about, health, spirituality, consciousness and reality.
My spiritual life took the form of channeled extraterrestrial guidance in my teens, which led to personal development trainings in the 80’s and 90’s and then to more serious spiritual enquiry in the mid 90’s and ultimately to a 10-year association with Barry Long.
I pretty much did the classic story of looking for enlightenment, finding a master, kneeling at his feet, then seeing through the façade and finding my own way.
What do you do? How can you help?
Going through an intense period of inner growth can be very difficult.
It can make it easier if you have someone who can walk along with you for a stretch. Someone who understands what you’re going through. And can support you if you need it.
That’s what I do, in a number of ways.
My four books all deal with this subject from different perspectives and they all help.
I do a live 15 minute meditation Monday, Wednesday and Friday on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube, at 3pm Irish time – 7am PDT – 10am EST. These can be participated in live or watched later.
Every second a week there is a further emergence retreat. This is a chance to take time away from your life to pause, to take a breath, to reflect on your growth in consciousness, to see what is helping, to see what is not. A chance to connect in with others of like mind and heart.
- One to One
I work one to one online with people.
These one to one sessions are powerful because they are a combination of conversation and treatment.
The treatment is a natural progression of my craniosacral work just from a bit further away.
How much does it cost?
- My books are all available on Amazon and vary in price depending on whether you want the kindle versions or paperback.
- A single one to one session for you is €100.
Most people prefer ongoing access to one to one work and these are handled through patreon.
There is a nominal charge of €200 through patreon to have access to my calendar to book your sessions.
The number of one to one sessions you might need will change with your process. It could be every week or every month.
Each one to one session can last up to two hours.
I can only see 8 people a week.
*If you are in financial distress but feel you need the specific support of one to one work get in touch.

To attend the retreats regularly is €10 per retreat through patreon.

How long does a session last?
- The one to one sessions last between 1 to 2 hours.
- The retreats last between 2 to 4 hours.
- The meditations are 15 – 30 minutes depending on the questions that are asked on the day.
What is involved?
- Each one to one session begins with an online video conversation.
Then you lie down.
I do the treatment.
Then we talk again at the end of the session.
- The retreats are a combination of talking, meditation, and answering questions.
Participants have complete control over how much of their identity is revealed in the meeting. They can be completely anonymous communicating by text only or fully live on camera asking their question and interacting.
What is next?
That is up to you, where you’re at, what you need, and whether I am the right person for you for now.
Jump straight in or dip your toe in the water.
As you have been reading, your mind has been assessing the information and formulating proposals for you.
Meanwhile, the deeper part of you has been absorbing the field in which the words were written.
It has been checking me out to see if I am the right person for you to work with.
That deeper part is intimately involved with the inner growth spurt you are going through. It will inform you best what to do next.
Regardless of whether we work together closely or this is as far as it goes for you. I wish you the very best in your Further Emergence.
